Ford Savela Accident Mira Costa High School:- A hit-and-run collision in Manhattan Beach late Tuesday night has left the community in mourning after one person was killed and another critically injured.
The Manhattan Beach Police Department (MBPD) is actively investigating the incident, which occurred around 11:25 p.m. near the 300 block of Sepulveda Boulevard, between Duncan and Longfellow drives.
Authorities reported that officers arriving at the scene discovered three victims who had sustained serious injuries. All three were promptly transported to a nearby hospital, where one succumbed to their injuries.
The identity of the deceased has not yet been released, pending notification of their family. A second victim remains in critical condition and was undergoing surgery as of Wednesday morning, while the condition of the third victim has not been disclosed.
The MBPD revealed that one of the drivers involved in the crash fled the scene on foot. The suspect, identified as Kameron Lee Peterson, is described as a 32-year-old man standing 6 feet tall and weighing approximately 175 pounds. Peterson’s flight has heightened the urgency of the investigation as officers work to locate him.
“This is a tragic event for our community, and our deepest condolences go out to the family of the deceased victim,” a spokesperson for the MBPD stated. “We urge anyone with information about Kameron Lee Peterson’s whereabouts to come forward and assist us in bringing justice to the victims and their families.”
