Kylah Beard, a certified nursing assistant, and Delilah Clayburn-Hill, a registered nurse, have been charged with felony neglect of an incapacitated adult resulting in death.
Prosecutors allege that their actions—or lack thereof—led to Hedrick’s exposure to scalding hot water, resulting in severe second and third-degree burns on his feet and legs. Tragically, these injuries proved fatal, and Hedrick succumbed to complications on January 12, 2024.
The victim, a 61-year-old non-verbal patient, was entirely reliant on hospital staff for his care. His death has sparked outrage and concern over the standards of care at Hopemont Hospital, which specializes in serving elderly and disabled residents.
